Sign Language and Deaf Culture Classes
8 week cycles - Tuesday 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Classes begin May 13, 2014 ends July 1, 2014
First Level 8 weeks $15.00 (one time fee)
Second Level 8 weeks $20.00 (one time fee)
Third level 8 weeks $15.00 every week
Let our Deaf Instructors teach you about the language and the people.
During the summer months we provide a special summer course.
The third Friday of every month is dedicated to a forum/workshop or Deaf Activity.
We have some of the best presenters in our community to facilitate discussions, video presentations etc. We continue to have forums and workshops regarding:
Voter Registration Drives
Knowing your Rights to Vote
Knowing your Rights in the work place
Knowing your Rights when dealing with law
enforcement
Kinowing your rights as a woman
Kinowing your rights as a parent
Knowing your Rights as a Deaf consumer in hospitals,
courts, etc
Knowing the latest legislative changes which can affect
you and your family
Forums on Fire Safety
Forums on Life Insurance
Forums on Health Insurance
Forums on Black Deaf History
Annually we participate in the March on Washington
Participate in protests and marches led by NAN
We attend the Saturday morning rallies at the National Action Network. Our Interpreters/Advocates Committee provide interpreting services for all NAN rallies and special events.
We participate in the Annual NAN Convention.
We participate in annual Thanksgiving and Christmas event where we help serve food and donate and give out toys to community children.
All of our members are encouraged to reach out and partner or collaborate with other groups and organizations.
Tanya Ingram, President or a representative is available to make a presentation to your group or organization.
When the Federal Government - US Congress or the Supreme Court does not clearly or fully protect the rights of all the people, States and Counties can pass laws and bills that may limit the rights of the disabled, senior citizens, the middle class, the poor, Blacks, Hispanics, Immigrants, women, it does not matter whether you are hearing, deaf or hard of hearing
